Music and music education have always been a passion for Dr. Thiele. She has taught General and Choral music in the Dexter Community Schools since 2004 at Creekside, Wylie and Bates. Dr. Thiele completed her BME at Ohio State University, a dual MA degree in Piano Pedagogy and Music Theory/ Literature from Eastern Michigan University, and a DMA in Music Education from Boston University. Dr. Thiele is an active member of the National Association for Music Educators, and has given presentations in Utah, Florida, Virginia, and Michigan. She is an active member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, Vice-president of the Detroit Orff Chapter and is certified in Levels I, II and III. As a past member of MNTA she has held offices in the local chapter of the Ann Arbor Area Piano Teachers Guild Foundation Board. She has also served on the Piano Faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, MI for four summers. Her research interests include rhythm for struggling readers and policy analysis for social equity. She plays Alto recorder with the American Recorder Society of Ann Arbor.
A mother of four, and a grandmother of three (soon to be four), her favorite past-times are biking, swimming, traveling, or hiking with her family.
